How to ride
STEP1
Check the bus
Find the bus stop and check the route number and destination shown on the front of the bus.
STEP2
Board & take a ticket
In Hokkaido, you usually get on from the rear (back) door. As you board, take a small "seiriken" (numbered ticket) from the machine by the door.
STEP3
Watch the fare
A screen at the front shows fares under each ticket number. As the bus travels, the fare next to your seiriken number goes up. Watch this screen so you know how much to pay when you get off.
STEP4
Press the button
When you hear or see your stop, press one of the "stop" buttons on the wall or handrail. This tells the driver to stop.
STEP5
Pay & get off
Get off from the front door and pay as you leave.
